The upcoming season is rapidly approaching. We need a two week lead time to get passes and rosters set. So, we'd appreciate all members register by 8/24/14. If registrations are not performed timely we can not guarantee your pass will be complete.
Thank you to those that attended last night’s meeting. We discussed several matters but the main topics were:
The need to bring in younger members to bridge the gap between our U23 Summer League and the Over 30 League.
The importance of providing a structured program in the Over 40 League.
The roster shortages within the current teams in the over 30 teams.
The Over 40 League.
The results of our meeting for each topic were:
It was decided that the NWSL would add an open league to expand our membership with a two part goal; to provide an outlet to those women participating in our U23 League and expanding our membership to create a structured over 40 League.A committee was formed to start researching field options concentrating on the New Haven area and advertising the league to determine interest. If there is anyone willing to help please let me know!
We currently have three teams struggling to field a team in the upcoming season. Our goal as a league should be to do all we can to help these teams find players.A committee was created to become more visible on Facebook and there were offers made to reach out to networking groups in some business circles.
The Over 40 League has dwindled down to such few players that it is becoming difficult to continue. It was decided that we would change the program to be more like Pick Up with the focus being on a relaxed game and catering to those newer players. However, we have removed the age requirement and opened it up to anyone interested.Again, I’d like to mention that it is not meant to be high level competitive pick up.
The 2014-2015 Registration is open on www.nutmegwomen.com.Please register ASAP and let me know if you have any questions.
The benefits of these changes will take time but I am confident that with everyone’s participation this can help us grow our numbers and provide opportunities for women of all ages.Thank you to those that attended our meeting and I hope to see all of you at the KFAC Tournament this weekend.
The Insurance Certificate Request form can be found in the "Documents" section of the NWSL website. Any team currently registered and in good standing with the Nutmeg Women's Soccer League may request proof of insurance, by completing and sending in the form to CSSA.
